Setup and Installation

To best prepare your system to run the game, please follow this procedure:
  • Run "SCAN DISK", from the Start Menu (Programs/Accessories/System Tools) on your hard drive.
  • Run "DISK DEFRAG", from the Start Menu (Programs/Accessories/System Tools) on your hard drive.
  • Run a quality virus scanner on your hard drive.
  • Make sure that you have at least 320MB of free space on the hard drive that will contain the game files (the extra 75 MB is for your swap file).

Please run the Analyser program available through the Autorun feature or when you double click on your CD drive through My Computer. This will inform you as to whether your PC meets the requirements set by Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon.

To install Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon to your hard drive:
  • Place the Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon CD in your CD-ROM drive.
  • After a few seconds, the Autorun Menu will appear on screen. Select the Install option. If this menu does not appear, click the Start button, select Run and type D:\SETUP.EXE (where D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive), and then click OK.
  • The Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon installation routine will then install the game files to your hard drive.
  • After installation the program will ask you whether you need to install DirectX (r) 7.0, which will allow Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon to run properly under all configurations. Your current drivers may need to be updated as necessary. In case you are unsure if you need to install DirectX (r) 7.0 then install it as it will not install anything if your current drivers are up to date.
  • Click the Play button on the Autorun Menu or select the Fate of the Dragon shortcut in the Eidos Interactive\Object Software \Fate of the Dragon\ folder in the Start Menu to begin the game.

Acrobat Reader

Included on the game disk is Adobe's Acrobat viewer version 4.05. You must install this program to view the .pdf manual, control sheets, and hardware guide. The Adobe Acrobat install file is available after you install the main game.

To install the reader click on start, then select Programs> Eidos Interactive\ Object Software \ Fate of the Dragon\ >Manuals>Install Acrobat Reader 4.05. Then follow the on screen prompts. If you have any problems with the installation or configuration of Acrobat Reader please follow this link - Adobe's Support Site

Uninstalling Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon

Select the Start Menu\ Eidos Interactive\ Object software\ Uninstall Fate of the Dragon. This ensures that all Windows associated fields are removed. Saved games will not be removed and will remain on your system. If you have installed to the default directory you will be able to find these files in; C:\Program Files\Eidos Interactive\ Object software\Fate of the Dragon .

Copy Protection

To deter piracy, Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon has been copy protected against mass duplication. From this procedure, there is a possibility (less than 1% of users) that during gameplay, the CD drive may not be able to read the CD. The cause of this "usually" relates to a CD ROM drive that is below specification, an older model, or is out of calibration from heavy use.

If you should experience a problem reading this CD, please try this option. Open your CONTROL PANEL; from the Start Menu \ Settings \ Control Panel, then select SYSTEM, then choose PERFORMANCE, and then click on the FILE SYSTEM button. Then choose CD-ROM, and change the Supplemental Cache Size for the CD drive to 470k (the half way mark between small and large).

Troubleshooting

Video Issues

If you encounter any video problems then you may need to obtain the latest drivers for your card. These can usually be found on the manufacturers web site. (see the end of this document).

While using two graphic cards e.g. Matrox Millennium II and Voodoo 2, the 'Analyze Computer' option may not display the results of your PC.

Computers using a Matrox Millennium II graphics card may experience problems running the FMV. The gameplay itself will be unaffected.

Performance Issues

  • Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon runs best if you make sure you have no other programs running in the background, including ones that are in the Windows task bar before you run the game.
  • Game performance can be significantly greater when you have more available system memory and/or video memory.
  • If you have installed Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon on a low spec machine ensure that you stay with the default options available when commencing play for the first time.

Multiplayer Issues

When playing a multiplayer game it is advisable to select Limited Troops. This will increase game speed especially during battles.

Please note that Eidos does not guarantee the funcionality of cross-language multiplay games
